CORPORATE WORSHIP
Corporate Worship is emphasized primarily on Sundays through “singing songs of praise” together to and for our Lord’s glory, personally giving of our resources to God, growing spiritually from the preaching and teaching of God’s Word, offering prayers of gratitude and prayers for guidance, and observing the ordinances of the church (baptism and communion).
- MUSICAL WORSHIP – It is the desire of Harvest Baptist Church to follow the admonitions of scripture to “continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise – the fruit of lips that confess His name.” These sacrifices need to be personal and corporate as God calls us to join together in our worship.
Harvest’s worship is intentionally multi-generational. While we recognize the variety of preferences in music and style we believe that God calls us to grow and encourage one another while we worship Him. The music, visuals and Word used during our worship times reflect a diversity and breadth that draws from our Christian heritage and contemporary culture.
It is our hope that during every corporate worship service and every program of music and fine arts that we will exalt God, encourage believers, focus on Christ and His Redemption for us, and show hospitality to those who are new to us.
- GIVING TITHES AND OFFERINGS - The giving of our first fruits in tithes and offerings is an act of worshipful obedience for those who have trusted Jesus Christ as Savior and have received His free gift of forgiveness for their sins. Giving tithes and offerings to Harvest is an opportunity for those who benefit from the ministries of Harvest to financially support those ministries.
“Honor the Lord with your wealth, with the first fruits of all your crops; then your barns will be filled to overflowing, and your vats will brim over with new wine.” - Proverbs 3:9
- GOD’S WORD & PRAYER – The preaching of God’s Word is of utmost importance in our Sunday services. The accurate teaching of God’s Word at all levels of Sunday school, Adult Bible Fellowships, youth groups and small groups is vital to the corporate spiritual growth of our church body. Prayer is a focus at every service and the priority of the Wednesday night prayer meeting. A group of committed believers meet every Sunday morning to uphold the preaching of God’s Word and various ministries that take place on Sundays.
- TWO CHURCH ORDINANCES: BAPTISM AND COMMUNION - We believe that these two ordinances were set forth in the New Testament church and represent our relationship with Jesus Christ.
Baptism is a step of obedience to Jesus Christ that follows a true repentance and belief in Jesus Christ as Savior. Baptism cannot save anyone – salvation is in Christ alone. Baptism is the opportunity to outwardly confess that belief in Jesus Christ. This ordinance is observed on a quarterly basis.
Communion is a special time “around the table” remembering Christ’s sacrifice of his body and blood for the forgiveness of our sins. Christ set this example with his disciples, and the New Testament church in Acts continued this practice. Communion is observed on a time-table that keeps the practice from being so common that we grow complacent about it, but often enough that makes it a special time of remembrance. At Harvest, we have open communion to all have trusted Christ as their Savior
